Sidney Prescott: "Final Girl"

Image
For those unfamiliar with the term, a "final girl" is the last surviving female character in a horror movie. She's typically the one who faces off against the killer and manages to outsmart or defeat them, often through her own wit and resourcefulness. Sidney Prescott, the main character of the "Scream" franchise, is one of the most iconic final girls in horror movie history. Let's take a closer look at why she stands out from the rest. First and foremost, Sidney is a complex and fully realized character. Unlike some final girls who are little more than damsels in distress, Sidney is a well-developed protagonist with her own fears, strengths, and vulnerabilities. She's smart, resourceful, and able to take care of herself, but she's also dealing with her own personal traumas and struggles throughout the series. Another thing that makes Sidney stand out is her ability to fight back against her attackers. In the "Scream" franchise, the kille...

The Evolution of Scream

Image
Today I will be discussing the evolution of the Scream franchise over the last 6 films. The Scream franchise began in 1996 with the release of the first film, which was directed by horror legend Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson. The film was a massive success, both critically and commercially, and it spawned three sequels over the next decade. Then, in 2011, the franchise was rebooted with Scream 4, and most recently, a fifth installment was released in 2022. So, how has the Scream franchise evolved over the years? Let's take a closer look. The original Scream film, released in 1996, was a game-changer for the horror genre. It was self-aware, witty, and cleverly subverted the tropes of the genre. The movie was a massive hit, and it spawned three sequels over the next decade. Scream 2, released in 1997, continued the story of Sidney Prescott, the final girl from the first film. The sequel upped the ante in terms of the body count and the suspense, and it introduced a host...

Predicting the Scream Killer

Image
We all know everything that happens within the scream world happens for a reason. meaning every single detail big and small has a meaning. That is one amazing thing the writers have always been good at. so lets talk about some details that have been on my mind. There seems to be a little bit of a pattern when trying to figure out who the killer(s) are. may it be a flannel or long sleeve shirt one of the killers typically wear and many  other details we see. have you ever noticed whether be out of order or not there is an actual pattern. most but not all killers are very similar and are easy to spot. lets take a look at the killers and see what stands out. Billy was the boyfriend of Sidney and wore a long sleeve shirt most of the time. he wore a blue long sleeve as well as a flannel. remember this detail. he also faked his death. micky though he didn't date Sidney he also wore a long sleeve blue shirt, while he didn't date Sidney he sure as hell tried to red-herring Derek making...

Killer Hidden in Plain Sight!

Image
Scream has always been known to have 2 killers dawning the suit and mask. we started with Billy and Stu in 1996, scream 2 we had micky and Miss Loomis, scream 4 we have Jill and Charlie, scream 5 we have Richie and amber. but why did we only get roman for scream 3? with scream 3 we  a huge amount of changes to this film. originally we were going to have stu return running a cult from prison. that idea was scrapped out of respect for columbine. not that the script or idea was bad to begin with. they clearly  wrote it and began on the project. changes were made purely out of respect. not to say this story cannot still take place later on. then we come to the next idea that Angelina and roman were both killers for scream 3. that story  still remained with some slight tweaks removing the idea of 2 killers going down to 1 being roman. During the scene with Sidney on set of the shooting of the stab film she had an encounter with Ghostface on set. in which she just so happ...

Image
Have you seen the official Scream 6 trailer? Did you notice anything that stood out?  At first nothing specifically stuck out to me because i was just soaking up the moment of enjoying the trailer. after a trailer drops for a movie my first viewing will be just to enjoy it. After that I typically will watch it a few more times to look for important details or easter eggs. during the scene in which the remaining survivors discover the shrine I noticed a few things from the past besides the robes and masks. If you notice we have jills plaid button up shirt from scream 4, the fraternity cross Derek was tied to in scream 2, a Hollywood clapper board from stab 1, miss Loomis's blazer from scream 2 as well as the pistol she used, Stu's red robe with the black collar, the letterman of steven Orth from scream 1. These are just the items i can make out i am sure someone with more knowledge than i can figure out what else we have here. Who ever put this shrine together has to be extremel...
